I am pleased to present Destination El Paso’s Annual Report for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. Visit El Paso and El Paso Live definitely worked hard to keep momentum going in terms of event programming and creating new ones within the community. With the assistance of the El Paso Hotel Motel Association and other partners, El Paso’s hospitality industry continues to make impressive strides. El Paso’s total gross hotel revenue was over $185 million in FY 15/16. The hospitality industry employed 13,530 El Pasoans and total travel spending was $1.62 billion. We look forward to the new $75 million renovation of the Convention Hotel and upcoming hotels in downtown to help attract more conventions to El Paso. We have partnered with the Juarez BCV to increase visitation from Northern Mexico to attend special events, outdoor assets and unique shopping. The Visit El Paso team attended its first international convention for meeting planners in Mexico City which resulted in a site visit. We hope to continue our marketing efforts in Northern Mexico with billboards in Chihuahua City and Torreon. El Paso Live experienced tremendous success as well, as we acquired Sun City Craft Beer Fest which had an attendance of 2,573 patrons on the Convention Center Plaza. We also introduced two new festivals, Tequila, Tacos and Cerveza Fest and Ice Cream Fest at Cohen Stadium. The First Annual El Paso Ice Cream Festival was created as a multi-generational event for families, lovers of ice cream and wholesome fun! The event was highly successful, making it one of the most highly attended festivals for El Paso Live with 7,198 in attendance. We are proud of all our successes this past year. By continuing to grow our events and with the upcoming public and private-sector developments, El Paso will continue to be a viable destination.
